What can I expect?
Our Sunday worship service has a traditional feel to it. We have outstanding choirs, and their musical presentations are always uplifting. We pray together, we sing hymns, we have about a twenty-minute sermon, and we collect a voluntary offering that supports our ministries and mission partners. Several times a year, we offer Communion to all who would like to partake (any age, regardless of baptismal status or church affiliation). The entire service lasts approximately one hour, though we hope the effects of your time with us will last much longer. Click here to view a service online.
First Baptist is affiliated with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, which means we generally embrace a more moderate-to-progressive theological approach to being church than most churches affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. We affirm and support women in all leadership roles, accept any form of Christian baptism for those who wish to unite with us, and fully embrace the freedom of each person to read and interpret scripture as God’s Spirit leads. We celebrate God’s grace, which is available to everyone. Simply put: we emphasize the unlimited love of God for all people, and all are welcome at FBC.
Spiritual Formation groups (Sunday School classes) are available prior to worship for all ages (see times below).

We are located at 722 Grace Street, Greenwood, SC 29649.
From Greenville: Take Highway 25 South toward Greenwood. (Highway 25 becomes Montague Avenue inside the Greenwood City limits.) Turn left at the intersection of Highway 25 and Bypass 72. At the next intersection, turn right onto Grace Street. Go approximately two blocks. First Baptist Church will be on the left.
From Clinton: Take Highway 72 West toward Greenwood. In Greenwood, cross over 72 Bypass. Highway 72 becomes Reynolds Ave. Reynolds Avenue will intersect Grace Street. Turn right at the intersection of Reynolds Avenue and Grace Street. Go approximately 4 blocks. First Baptist Church will be on the right.
From Ninety Six: Take Highway 25 North (Main Street) toward Greenwood. Turn right at the intersection of Highway 25 and Bypass 72. In Greenwood, turn right onto Grace Street at the next intersection. Go approximately two blocks. First Baptist Church will be on the left.
From Abbeville: Take Highway 72 East toward Greenwood. (Highway 72 becomes Bypass 72 inside the Greenwood City limits.) In Greenwood, cross over Highway 25. At the next intersection, turn right onto Grace Street. Go approximately two blocks. First Baptist Church will be on the left.
Where do I park?
Parking is available along Grace Street and behind the church. Handicap accessible parking is available along Grace Street, in front of the covered drive, and in each section of the parking lot behind the church.
How do I find my way around?
A friendly greeter will be available at each door to welcome you and help you find your way. Here is a link to our building map.
What should I wear?
No matter what your closet contains, you should feel at home in our church. While many of our members prefer to dress up, others choose to dress more casually. Come as you are. All are welcome here.
What about my kids?
Spiritual Formation (Sunday School) Classes are available for children of all ages, beginning at 10 am.
Scripture Thoughts for Children is an integral part of our worship service most Sundays, after which K5 children and younger are invited to leave for Children’s Church in room 130. Childcare (Extended Session) is available each Sunday for newborns through age 4.
