Our Chapel
The Chapel at First Baptist Church
The First Baptist chapel follows a similar design style and features elements similar to our sanctuary, including stone floors, stained glass windows, a pipe organ, and unique symbols. However, the space includes a greater use of marble (for the baptistry) and wood (for the ceiling and beams).
Unlike most Baptist churches, our chapel (not our sanctuary) houses our baptistry, and all baptismal services are performed here. While there is some precedent for this practice throughout the history of church and cathedral architecture, this design choice for our congregation encourages a more intimate and personal ambience during services, offering a complement to the grandeur and expansive feel of our sanctuary.
Our chapel is truly a “place apart,” providing an intimate corporate worship space as well as reflective and uplifting retreat for private meditation and prayer.
