Giving online is convenient and secure.
Below are some answers to questions many first time online givers have.
If I already give online through my bank, do I have to use this new system?
No. If you already bank online and prefer to have your bank send bank checks to First Baptist from your account, you may continue to do so.
How do I give to First Baptist Church online?
1. You can make a gift online simply by clicking the Give Online Now button on our Giving webpage. You can give at any time without needing to download anything or register for an account with Tithe.ly, the vendor we have chosen to process our giving transactions.
2. You can also download the Tithe.ly giving app for your smartphone or tablet, where you will be able to find our church and give. It only takes a couple of minutes to set up your account and then you’ll be able to see your giving history and manage your account. 3. If you are already bank online and prefer to have your bank send First Baptist a check from your account, you may continue to do so.
Does it cost me anything to give online?
No! It costs you nothing to give to your church using Tithe.ly. Tithe.ly does charge First Baptist a small fee for each transaction (2.9% + .30 cents per credit/debit card transaction and 1% per direct money transfer transaction)*. If you wish, you can elect to cover this fee in your gift by checking the box next to Cover Fees directly below the card number/bank account field on the giving screen. Your giving statement will reflect the full amount of your gift for tax purposes.
Is my credit/debit card/bank account information secure?
Yes! We take data and payment information security very seriously. All sensitive financial information is stored with the highest bank-level security available in Tithe.ly’s secure database.** No personal information is stored or captured by the FBC website. All information transmitted to Tithe.ly and their banking partner is done via an encrypted internet connection using the highest level of internet security available.***
How will my personal data be used?
Your personal data will never be sold, traded, or given out to third parties!
How will I know when my debit/credit card has been charged or my direct money transfer has been processed?
Anytime you’re charged you will receive an email confirmation.
How long does it take for my gift to reach FBC?
It usually takes about 2-3 days between the time you give and when it appears in FBC’s bank account.
What if I accidentally type the wrong amount?
If you make a mistake giving, simply contact First Baptist Church (864-229-5557) and we can refund the wrong amount. You can then make another donation for the correct amount. Refunds may take up to 7 business days to appear back in your account.
How do I edit my information?
You can download the Tithe.ly giving app where you will be able to manage and update all of your account information.
How do I change or cancel my recurring gift?
In order to change your auto-recurring gift, you will need to delete your existing recurring gift and then set up a new recurring gift. Instructions on how to do this can be found here.
How do I change or update my payment method?
If you already have an account with Tithe.ly and would like to change your payment information, you can do so from the Tithe.ly app or by logging into your account online and clicking on “Payment Methods” in the menu bar. You will need to delete your old form of payment and add a new one. For a step-by-step walkthrough of this, you can learn more here.
*Tithe.ly uses the secure Automated Clearing House (ACH) system to transfer funds directly from a giver’s bank account to the church’s bank account.
** Tithe.ly uses PCI DSS Level 1 compliant standards. This is the highest level of security used by financial and government institutions.
